Square-Enix is hoping to release the third and final entry in the Final Fantasy 7 remake trilogy within three years, as it has been revealed that the main story of the third game is completed, and voice recording will soon begin.
Will the Final Fantasy 7 Remake Trilogy be done by 2027?
An interview published in the newly released book titled Final Fantasy 7 Remake Ultimania included the above information from creative director Tetsuya Nomura. He also teased that something new and important that was not originally featured in the 1997 version will be coming, after being proposed by series producer Yoshinori Kitase.
The high staff retention between Final Fantasy 7 Remake and Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is relatively high, meaning there won’t be too long of a wait (by Square-Enix standards) between the 2020 and 2024 titles despite the impact of the pandemic at the time. Square-Enix even managed to do DLC expansions in between the two.
The same high retention will also happen for Part 3, and in a smoother environment with many things already done, we may see Final Fantasy Remake Part 3 in 2027, which happens to be the 30th anniversary of the original game (making me feel very old to think about).
Fans of the first two parts are likely to see it as something worth waiting for every time it arrives, after Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth dazzled players and critics alike.
